Install Percona XtraDB Cluster (PXC) on Ubuntu 24.04

PXC provides synchronous multi-master MySQL replication using the Galera library.

Step 1 – Install

wget https://repo.percona.com/apt/percona-release_latest.$(lsb_release -sc)_all.deb
dpkg -i percona-release_latest.$(lsb_release -sc)_all.deb
percona-release enable-only pxc-80 release
apt update && apt install -y percona-xtradb-cluster
systemctl enable --now mysql

Step 2 – Initial root password

grep 'temporary password' /var/log/mysqld.log
mysql -u root -p
# ALTER USER 'root'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'StrongRoot123!';

Architecture

  Node 1 (192.168.1.10) <──► Node 2 (192.168.1.11) <──► Node 3 (192.168.1.12)
         All writes replicated synchronously via wsrep / Galera

Next: Bootstrap the cluster then add nodes.
